A One Man Band

This week's theme is music.

When you look at this picture you may ask what it has to do with Australia.  Well, believe it or not this picture was taken in "the land down under" at Hahndorf, SA.  Settled in 1839 by Lutherans who left Prusia to escape religious persecution, Handorf is Australia's oldest surviving German settlement and the town continues to maintain a rich cultural heritage.  Whenever I visit the town 30 km from Adelaide there is alway accordion music being played, either in the street or one of the many German Beer Hauses.

  4. Cool shot. I almost used one I had of North Carolina's only polka band, but found others I liked instead.

  7. I just visited another site and commented that it contained the only accordion I had seen so far today -- and then I visited yours! My dad used to play the accordion so this brings back wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing the information as well. I've been to Australia but not to the town you mentioned. I'm a Lutheran and had no idea Lutherans had settled in Australia.
